Amphora
Amphora
This 1st c. amphora is probably the largest bronze Roman amphora from Pannonia. Its form is simple, and it was additionally processed on a rotating wheel after casting. The ornaments are scarce: three parallel lines above the bottom and one line below the rim.
On the inside of the rim is another incised line – probably not an ornament at all, but a volume marker. The handles were subsequently attached on the body of the amphora, but only one is preserved. During conservation a replica of the second was added.
