Coinage hoards
Coinage hoards
At the very beginning of the permanent exhibition of old money and medals of the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb it was our wish to conjure up what we usually call hoards. In the showcases there are collective finds, hoards of bronze Italic and African money from the 3rd to the 2nd century B.C. Then there is the clay vessel in which, in the year 1966, Roman Imperial silver money was dug out, originating from the 3rd century B.C.
Next, there is the bronze vessel that contained Roman silver money from the time of the 1st century B.C. to the 2nd century A.D. as well as collective finds of the new age, like the savings coin-box filled with Hungarian and German silver money from the 15th to 16th century and finally, there are also findings from the recent time.
