NUMISMATIC COLLECTION
The Museum’s Numismatic Collection belongs to the largest in the world. It numbers more than 270,000 specimens that belong to the period from the 6th century B.C. all through the present; they are classified in the following units: metal coins and banknotes, commemorative medals, plaques, badges, orders, tags and token coins.
The greatest part of the money was found on the territory of Croatia, either collectively of individually. The material was classified in several groups that are accompanied by the appropriate inventory: Greek (autonomous money from the Greek-Roman cities) and Celtic money, the money of the Roman Republic, money of the Roman Empire, Byzantine money and the money of the Middle Ages and the New Age.
