  • Sundial

The sundial (solarium), dedicated to the gods, the superior deity Jupiter and the sun god Sol, was found in the year 1882 in Josipdol, where it was probably brought from the nearby village Čakovec where the ancient Metulum was situated. In the central hollow there is a vertical line cut in that signified the noon or midday line; on all the four sides there a four lines that correspond to the hours of before and after noon. The sundial could thus be used only from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
