  • Sarcophagus of Severila

The large marble sarcophagus, discovered in Sisak back in the 16th century, was presented as a gift to the Archaeological department of the National Museum in the year 1871 by the Zagreb Chapter. The translation of the inscription would approximately read as follows:
In this shrine is Severila, Jesus Christ’s servant, who lived with her husband for nine uninterrupted years, to whom the obliged Marcelian after her death raised this resting-place to be viewed.
