Black-figure style
Black-figure style
The technique of "black figures" was discovered around the 7th century B.C. in the Corinthian workshops but the Attic master craftsmen brought it to perfection and so, in the 6th century B.C., completely dominated on the market. The basis of this technique was the manufacturing of figures in black colour on light background. The details of the figure itself were carved after the firing with a special instrument appropriate for this purpose.
