Sarcophagus and mummy Shepenun
The triple anthropomorphic sarcophagus consists of three lids and two bottoms. All the parts are painted with the customary iconography in white-yellow tone. The mummy of the woman called Shepenun is swaddled in bandages and previously poured over with a sort of cement. The radiological findings showed that there was abounding crude matter round the mummy's body. These are amulets that were offered at the rite of mummification. It has been dated between the 3rd and 1st century B.C.
In contrast to the sarcophagus of Kaipamau, this one shows a later and rougher form of Egyptian art and iconography. The first on the left is the biggest lid where, at the height of the breast, there is painted the image of a scene from the Book of the Dead; on the right we can see ...
