Items made from glass paste
Glass paste made from a mixture of quartz sand and lead was used by the Iapodes to manufacture unique jewellery specific for their area – big dark-blue or grey grains incrusted with yellow paint – in concentric circles, with a zig-zag line, dots and the like. Various decorations could be made from such grains – necklaces, fibulae, pectoral decorations and the like. What has to be emphasized is the fact that decorations made from glass paste were very heavy due to the addition of lead and they had a special status in the Iapodian culture.
