Hoard from Kloštar Ivanić
Hoard from Kloštar Ivanić
The contents of the hoard from Kloštar Ivanić, dated as belonging to the 11th century B.C., reveal several valuable objects. Together with a pair of knemidae, exceptionally rare bronze greaves, defence against weapons for the legs, and a unique specimen of a Keftiu-type ingot, similar to a spread out ox hide.
Keftiu in the Egyptian language means Crete or inhabitant of Crete. Such ingots were the specific Aegean form of bronze used as a means of payment, i.e. the measure of value in the trade exchange.
