Idol from Dalj

The anthropomorphic clay idol from Dalj represents a female figure in a luxuriously decorated dress. The embroidered decorations on the dress as well as the bronze jewellery are demonstrated with engraved geometric motifs, like straight, zig-zag and curved lines, concentric circles and ranges of short incisions.

Among the decorations the particularly outstanding ones are the richly ornamented necklace belt with pendants and the zig-zag embroidery on a bell-shaped skirt that is additionally decorated with circular metal stitch-work.

The idol’s head is missing and the figure is preserved 23 cm in height. It belongs to the Middle Bronze Age Bijelo Brdo - Dalj Group.
