Golden jewellery from Privlaka
Gold and copper are the first metal that man worked out and used. Both of them first of all served for the production of jewellery in the first millenniums of usage, and gold retained this function as a primary function in the later periods of the human development.
In the course of pre-history gold was obtained from secondary deposits, riverbeds or sources run dry; it arrived in these places through washing out from the ore of the mountain beds.
The golden objects from the Bronze Age are the followers of the earlier traditions from the Copper Age. By its beauty and value, gold supplied the owner with reputation, presenting in this way an expressive status symbol.
